Extending the Retirement Age of Public Officers to 65 years

A gazette notification has been issued to increase the retirement age of public servants to 65.

The gazette notification is signed by the Minister of Public Service, Provincial Councils and Local Government, Janaka Bandara Tennakoon.

This time the government has decided to extend the retirement age of public servants to 65 as per the budget.

Accordingly, the gazette notification has been issued to change the compulsory retirement age of public servants to 65 from January 1, 2022

The new gazette notification states that any public servant can retire after the age of 55 and after the age of 65.
